Visual Description
Aedes notoscriptus is a mosquito species characterized by distinct markings on its thorax and legs. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a dark-colored body with prominent white or pale-colored scales forming patterns on the scutum (the dorsal part of the thorax) and distinct white banding on the legs.[1]
Biology and Ecology
Aedes notoscriptus is naturally infected with a strain of Wolbachia bacteria belonging to supergroup B. This endosymbiont is localized exclusively within the mosquito's ovaries. Despite this natural infection, the presence of Wolbachia does not limit dengue virus (DENV) infection in A. notoscriptus.[2]
