Visual Description
The species Aedes fumidus is represented in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset by preserved museum specimens.[1] Due to the nature of these specimens, detailed morphological traits such as fine scale patterns or specific setal arrangements are difficult to resolve from the available imagery.
Biology and Ecology
Aedes fumidus was described by F.W. Edwards in 1928.[2]
Research into wild mosquito populations in Singapore has identified Aedes nr. fumidus as a host for Wolbachia endosymbionts.[3] In a study, 60% of the individuals screened were found to be positive for Wolbachia infection, with the identified strain belonging to supergroup A.[3]
