General Information
Aedes excrucians (Walker, 1856) is an accepted species within the family Culicidae.[2] It is commonly referred to as the woodland snowmelt mosquito.[2]
Research into the morphology of eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults of populations from France, Germany, and Italy has led to the proposal of reinstating the binomen Aedes surcoufi (Theobald, 1912) for these European populations.[3] The species is also considered part of the Holarctic Aedes excrucians species complex.[3]
