This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Aedes cunabulanus exhibits typical morphological characteristics of the family Culicidae.[1] The specimens display the characteristic slender body form, long, delicate legs, and a pair of functional wings typical of mosquitoes. The head features prominent compound eyes and elongated mouthparts adapted for feeding. Due to the nature of the available imagery, finer diagnostic traits such as specific scale patterns on the thorax or abdomen cannot be definitively resolved.[1]
Aedes cunabulanus was described by F.W. Edwards in 1924.[2] The species was formally documented in his work, "A synopsis of the adult mosquitos of the Australasian Region," published in the Bulletin of Entomological Research.[2]
