Visual Description
Aedes aculeatus exhibits characteristic mosquito morphology, including a slender body, long, thin legs, and a pair of wings. Vector Relationships
Aedes aculeatus has been identified as a vector species for the Stratford virus (STRV), a member of the genus Flavivirus in Australia.[2] Research conducted in New South Wales between 1995 and 2013 confirmed the isolation of STRV from this species, alongside other mosquitoes such as Aedes alternans, Aedes notoscriptus, Aedes procax, Aedes vigilax, and Anopheles annulipes.[2] Genetic analysis of these viral isolates revealed no significant nucleotide divergence associated with the specific mosquito species from which they were collected.[2]
