Adriapontia ugandica is a small fly characteristic of the family Sepsidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a slender, dark-bodied insect with a shiny, somewhat metallic appearance. The head is relatively rounded, and the wings are clear with a distinct, dark apical spot, a common feature in many sepsids. The legs are slender, and the thorax and abdomen show a smooth, sclerotized surface.[1]
The genus Adriapontia is endemic to the Afrotropical Region.[2] Adriapontia ugandica is specifically known from Uganda.[3]
Males of A. ugandica can be distinguished from other species in the genus by the presence of a strong seta on the ventral side of the hind coxa. Additionally, they possess 2–6 long hairs on the posterior side of the mid tibia in the apical third, a trait shared with A. ihongeroensis.[2]
