Adriapontia ihongeroensis is a member of the family Sepsidae. Based on observations of museum specimens, the species exhibits characteristic features of the genus. Diagnostic male characteristics include the presence of 3–4 short setae on the posterior side of the mid tibia in the apical quarter, and a distinct hair located ventrally on the hind coxa.[2] These morphological details are consistent with specimens documented in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset.[1]
Adriapontia ihongeroensis is endemic to the Afrotropical region.[2] It has been recorded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[3]
