Visual Description
Adoxomyia nubifera is a species of soldier fly. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult exhibits a robust, somewhat flattened body typical of many Stratiomyidae.[1] The thorax and abdomen display a dark, often metallic or brownish coloration, and the wings are characterized by distinct venation patterns, with some specimens showing darkened or clouded areas within the wing membrane.[1]
Taxonomic History
Adoxomyia nubifera was originally described by the entomologist H. Loew in 1857 under the basionym Oxycera nubifera.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Adoxomyia.[2]
