Visual Description
Admontia seria is a tachinid fly characterized by a robust, bristly appearance typical of the family. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a dark, greyish-black thorax covered in prominent, stiff black setae (bristles).[1] The head features large, reddish-brown compound eyes and distinct, forward-projecting bristles near the antennae. The wings are clear with dark venation, and the legs are dark and also bear numerous bristles, which are diagnostic features for many species within the tribe Blondeliini.[1]
Ecology
Admontia seria is known to function as an endoparasitoid.[2] Its larval stages develop within various species of crane flies (Tipulidae), including Tipula irrorata, Tipula flavolineata, and Dictenidia bimaculata.[2]
