Visual Description
Admontia grandicornis is a species of fly within the family Tachinidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits typical tachinid morphological characteristics, including a robust, bristly body.[1] The flies possess prominent, plumose antennae and a distinct pattern of dark setae (bristles) covering the thorax and abdomen, which are diagnostic features often used in the identification of members of the genus Admontia.
Biology and Distribution
Admontia grandicornis was described by Johan Wilhelm Zetterstedt in 1849.[2] Like other members of the family Tachinidae, it is a parasitoid, with larvae typically developing inside other insects.[3] The species is found in Europe.[3]
