This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Adersia oestroides exhibits characteristics typical of the family Tabanidae.[1] The specimens display a robust, fly-like body form with large, prominent compound eyes. The wings are well-developed and clear, and the thorax and abdomen show distinct coloration patterns, often with brownish or yellowish tones consistent with many horse fly species.[1]
Adersia oestroides was originally described by Ferdinand Karsch in 1888 under the basionym Silvius oestroides.[2] It is a recognized species within the family Tabanidae, which includes various horse flies and deer flies.[3]
