General Information
Adelopteromyia is a genus of scuttle flies (family Phoridae) established by Schmitz in 1923.[2] The genus is recognized as a reference point in the identification and diagnosis of other phorid genera, such as Iranphora.[3]
Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens of Adelopteromyia exhibit typical phorid morphology, characterized by a small, humpbacked body form.[1] The flies possess relatively large, prominent eyes and wings that are often held in a characteristic position, with distinct venation patterns typical of the family.[1]
