Visual Description
Adachia hispida is a small fly characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae. Based on examination of museum specimens, the body exhibits a metallic, often dark or bronze-toned coloration typical of many long-legged flies. The wings are clear with distinct venation patterns, and the legs are notably long and slender, a diagnostic feature of the family. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, bristly hairs, which are consistent with the specific epithet hispida (meaning "shaggy" or "bristly").[1]
Classification and History
Adachia hispida was originally described as Eurynogaster hispida by Hardy and Kohn in 1964.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Adachia.[2]
