Visual Description
Adachia apicenigra is a species of long-legged fly within the family Dolichopodidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus and family, including a slender body form and elongated legs typical of dolichopodids.[1] The specimens exhibit a metallic or dark coloration, and the wing venation patterns are consistent with the diagnostic structures used to identify members of this group.[1]
Classification and History
Adachia apicenigra was originally described by the entomologist O. Parent in 1940 under the name Eurynogaster apicenigra.[2] The species is currently accepted as Adachia apicenigra (Parent, 1940).[2]
