Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Adachia are small flies typical of the family Dolichopodidae.[1] They exhibit the characteristic long, slender legs often associated with long-legged flies. The body coloration is generally dark, with some species showing distinct patterns on the wings or body segments. The wings are typically clear or lightly infuscated, and the venation is consistent with the family's diagnostic features.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Adachia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, described by Neal L. Evenhuis in 2005.[2] The genus was established as part of a review of species previously classified within the genus Eurynogaster in Hawaii.[2] These insects are endemic to Hawaii.[3]
