Visual Description
Acupalpa imitans is a species of stiletto fly. Based on observations of specimens, the body exhibits typical dipteran features, including a distinct head with large compound eyes and a slender, elongated abdomen. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine setae (hairs), which are characteristic of many members of the family Therevidae. The wings are generally clear or slightly tinted, with a venation pattern typical of the genus.[1]
Biology and Classification
Acupalpa imitans (White, 1915) is a species of stiletto fly belonging to the family Therevidae, subfamily Agapophytinae.[2] The species was previously classified within the genus Pipinnipons but was transferred to Acupalpa as a new combination (comb. n.) following a revision of the genera.[2][3] It is recognized as an accepted species name.[4]
