Visual Description
Acupalpa divisa is a species of stiletto fly. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the family Therevidae.[1] The flies possess prominent, compound eyes and a distinctively tapered abdomen. The coloration often includes patterns of brown, grey, or black, which may provide camouflage in their natural habitats.[1]
Biology and Classification
Acupalpa divisa (Walker, 1850) is one of 19 recognized species within the genus Acupalpa Kröber, 1912.[2] The genus Acupalpa is considered a sister-genus to Pipinnipons Winterton, 2001.[2] The species was originally described by Francis Walker in 1850 as Dimassus divisus.[3]
