Visual Description
Actocetor indicus is a small fly belonging to the family Ephydridae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a distinct body form typical of shore flies.[1] Key visible traits include a robust thorax and a patterned abdomen. The wings are often held in a characteristic position, and the compound eyes are prominent, occupying a significant portion of the head. Biology and Distribution
Actocetor indicus was originally described by Wiedemann in 1824 as Ephydra indicus.[2] It is an accepted species within the genus Actocetor.[2] As a member of the family Ephydridae, it is likely associated with shorelines or other aquatic habitats, where members of this family are typically found.[3]
