Visual Description
Actocetor decemugttatus is a small fly characterized by a distinct pattern of markings on its wings and body. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal that the wings possess a series of white or light-colored spots against a darker background.[1] The thorax and abdomen exhibit a dark coloration, with lighter, transverse bands visible on the dorsal surface of the abdomen.[1]
Classification and History
Actocetor decemugttatus was originally described by Mario Bezzi in 1908 under the name Poecilostenia decemugttatus.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the family Ephydridae.[2]
