Visual Description
Members of the genus Actinoptera are small flies characterized by distinct wing patterns. Observations of Actinoptera specimens, including A. discoidea and A. filaginis, reveal wings featuring intricate, often reticulated or mottled dark brown to black markings against a lighter, sometimes yellowish or hyaline background.[1] The body is typically covered in fine setae, and the overall form is consistent with other members of the family Tephritidae.[1]
Distribution and Records
The genus has been documented in various regions. For instance, Actinoptera discoidea (Fallén, 1814) has been recorded in Turkey, with specific specimens identified in the Gaziantep province.[2]
