Actinochaetopteryx is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.[2] The genus was described by the entomologist Charles Henry Tyler Townsend in 1927.[2]
Based on examination of preserved specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Actinochaetopteryx exhibit typical tachinid morphology.[1] These flies are characterized by a robust body structure and the presence of prominent, stout bristles (chaetotaxy) on the thorax and abdomen, which is a diagnostic feature of the family Tachinidae.[1] The specimens display distinct abdominal patterning and wing venation typical of the subfamily Dexiinae.[1]
