Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Actinochaeta exhibit typical tachinid morphology.[1] The specimens are characterized by a robust, bristly body, which is a hallmark of the family Tachinidae. The thorax and abdomen are covered in prominent, dark, stiff setae (bristles). The wings are typically clear or slightly smoky, with distinct venation patterns characteristic of the order Diptera. The head features large, prominent compound eyes and well-developed antennae.[1]

Actinochaeta is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.[2] The genus was described by Friedrich Moritz Brauer and Julius von Bergenstamm in 1889.[2]
