Visual Description
Actia crassicornis is a small fly characteristic of the family Tachinidae. Based on observations of specimens, it exhibits a dark, bristly body typical of the genus. The head features prominent, pale-colored compound eyes. The thorax and abdomen are dark, with the abdomen showing distinct, lighter-colored transverse bands. The wings are clear and membranous, with visible venation. The legs are dark and slender, and the entire body is covered in numerous stiff, dark setae (bristles), which are particularly dense on the thorax and the posterior segments of the abdomen.[1]
Ecology and Biology
Actia crassicornis (Meigen, 1824) is a species of tachinid fly.[2] Like many members of its family, it functions as a parasitoid. In Bulgaria, it has been documented as a parasitoid of the moth species Tortrix viridana and Yponomeuta malinellus.[3] Additional interactions have been noted with members of the families Oecophoridae and Depressariidae.[4]
