Based on observations of museum specimens, Actenomeros aureilineata exhibits the characteristic form of a stiletto fly. The body is elongated, with a distinct head, thorax, and abdomen typical of the family Therevidae. The specimens display a patterned appearance, with visible longitudinal markings along the dorsal surface of the thorax and abdomen. Actenomeros aureilineata (Winterton & Irwin, 1999) is a species of stiletto fly belonging to the family Therevidae. It is classified within the genus Actenomeros, which is endemic to Australia and part of the subfamily Agapophytinae.[2]
The species was originally described as Nanexila aureilineata by Winterton and Irwin in 1999, but was subsequently transferred to the genus Actenomeros following a taxonomic review of the genus.[2][3]
