Visual Description
Acrotaeniostola dissimilis is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult fly exhibits a distinct pattern of dark, mottled markings on its wings. The thorax and abdomen feature a combination of dark and light bands, with a prominent dark, pointed structure at the posterior end of the abdomen. The eyes are compound and prominent, typical of the family.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Acrotaeniostola dissimilis was described by Y. Zia in 1937 as part of a study on the Trypetidae (now Tephritidae) of China.[2] It is recognized as an accepted species within the genus Acrotaeniostola.[2]
