Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Acrosathe tashimai exhibits characteristics typical of the family Therevidae, commonly known as stiletto flies.[1] The specimens display a slender, elongated body form. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense pubescence, which gives the insect a somewhat matte appearance. The wings are generally clear or slightly tinted, with distinct venation patterns characteristic of the family. The legs are relatively long and slender, adapted for resting on vegetation or ground surfaces.[1]
General Information
Acrosathe tashimai is a species of stiletto fly in the family Therevidae. It was formally described by entomologists Akira Nagatomi and Leif Lyneborg in 1988.[2] The species is recognized as a valid taxon within the genus Acrosathe.[2]
