Visual Description
Acrosathe baltica is a stiletto fly characterized by a dense covering of fine, pale, hair-like setae over much of its body, including the thorax and the lateral margins of the abdomen. The eyes are prominent and exhibit a distinct iridescent, multi-colored sheen. The legs are slender and equipped with noticeable, dark, spine-like bristles. The abdomen is segmented and appears dark, contrasting with the lighter, pale vestiture along its sides. The wings are clear with a visible venation pattern typical of the family Therevidae.[1]
Taxonomy and Distribution
Acrosathe baltica was described by H. Andersson in 1994.[2] It is a recognized species within the genus Acrosathe.[2]
