Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Acropeltates exhibit characteristic features of the family Stratiomyidae.[1] The specimens typically display a flattened body profile, a common trait among many soldier flies. The thorax and abdomen often show distinct coloration patterns, with some individuals appearing to have metallic or dark, sclerotized surfaces. The wings are generally held flat over the abdomen when at rest, and the venation patterns are consistent with the diagnostic features of the family.
General Information
Acropeltates is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae.[2] The genus was described by the entomologist Kálmán Kertész in 1923.[2]
