Based on observations of preserved specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Acrocera stansburyi exhibits the characteristic humpbacked body form typical of the family Acroceridae.[1] The specimens show a notably globose thorax and a relatively small head positioned low on the body. The wings are large and membranous, with a distinct venation pattern characteristic of the genus.[1]
General Information
Acrocera stansburyi is a species of fly in the family Acroceridae, commonly known as small-headed flies. The species was described by Charles Willison Johnson in 1923.[2]
