Visual Description
Acreophthiria egerminans is a species of bee fly within the family Bombyliidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens, the species exhibits a characteristic dipteran body plan with a robust, somewhat hairy thorax and abdomen. The wings are typically clear or lightly infuscated, and the head features prominent, large compound eyes. The body coloration is generally muted, consistent with many members of the family, often displaying shades of brown or grey.[1]
General Information
Acreophthiria egerminans was originally described by Hermann Loew in 1872 as Phthiria egerminans.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Acreophthiria.[2]
