Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Acraspisa exhibit typical stiletto fly morphology.[1] They possess a slender, elongated body form characteristic of the family Therevidae. The head is relatively large with prominent eyes, and the thorax and abdomen are often marked with patterns that may provide camouflage in their natural environment.[1]
General Information
Acraspisa is a genus of stiletto flies described by Kröber in 1912.[2] It is classified within the subfamily Agapophytinae, a group of therevid flies restricted in distribution to Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the eastern provinces of Indonesia.[3] The subfamily Agapophytinae includes 11 genera, among which Acraspisa is recognized.[3]
