Overview
Acontistoptera is a genus of flies in the family Phoridae, first described by Charles Thomas Brues in 1902.[2]
Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Acontistoptera exhibit characteristic phorid morphology.[1] The specimens typically display a compact, hump-backed body shape, which is a common feature among many phorid flies. The wings, when present, show characteristic venation patterns typical of the family, with thickened costal veins.[1]
