Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Acodiplosis pulicariae exhibits the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of many gall midges (Cecidomyiidae).[1] The specimens appear to have long, thin legs and slender antennae, which are consistent with the general body plan of the family.[1] Due to the small size and the nature of the available imagery, finer diagnostic morphological characters are not clearly resolved.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
Acodiplosis pulicariae is known to interact with the plant Pulicaria odora (Asteraceae).[2] As a member of the family Cecidomyiidae, it is likely involved in gall formation on its host plant, a common ecological trait among species in this family.[2]
