Description
Acnephalomyia is a genus of robber flies (family Asilidae) described by Jason G. H. Londt in 2010.[2] The genus was established as part of a review of Afrotropical Stenopogoninae.[2]
Visual Description
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of Acnephalomyia exhibit typical asilid morphology.[1] They possess a robust, elongated body form characteristic of the family. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense setae, and the wings are clear with distinct venation patterns typical of the subfamily. The head features large, prominent compound eyes and a well-developed mystax (a cluster of bristles on the face).[1]
