Visual Description
Acnemia longipes is a species of fungus gnat within the family Mycetophilidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus and species. The body is slender, typical of many mycetophilids, with elongated legs that are notably thin and delicate. The wings are clear and membranous, displaying a distinct venation pattern characteristic of the family, with the costa extending beyond the tip of the radial sector. The thorax is arched, and the overall coloration of the specimens appears to be brownish, consistent with many members of the group.[1]
Classification and History
Acnemia longipes was formally described by the entomologist Johannes Winnertz in 1863.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Acnemia.[2]
