Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Acnemia falcata exhibits the characteristic morphology of a fungus gnat.[1] The specimens display slender, elongated bodies typical of the family Mycetophilidae, with long, delicate legs and prominent, clear wings.[1]
Distribution and Ecology
Acnemia falcata Zaitzev, 1982 is a rare Palaearctic species of fungus gnat.[2] Its distribution in Europe includes Scandinavia, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic.[2] A specimen collected in the Gemer region of Central Slovakia (Fabova hoľa, NP Muránska planina) in 2009 provided the first record of the species in that country.[2]
