Visual Description
Achradocera barbata is a small fly belonging to the family Dolichopodidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit a metallic, often greenish or bronze-colored body typical of many long-legged flies. The wings are generally clear or slightly tinted, and the legs are slender and elongated.[1]
Taxonomy and Classification
Achradocera barbata was originally described by Hermann Loew in 1861 under the name Synarthrus barbatus.[2] Recent taxonomic work has clarified the status of related species, specifically noting that Achradocera apicalis (Aldrich) is distinct and has been removed from synonymy with Achradocera barbata.[3]
