Achias rothschildi is a species of signal fly within the family Platystomatidae. Based on examination of museum specimens, individuals exhibit the characteristic morphology of the genus Achias, which includes notably elongated eye stalks. The body displays a robust, sclerotized structure typical of the family. The coloration is generally dark, with patterns on the wings and thorax that are consistent with other members of the genus.[1]
Achias rothschildi was described by E.E. Austen in 1910. The original description was published in Novitates Zoologicae under the title "A new species of the dipterous genus Achias Fabr. (Family Ortalidae)".[2]
