Taxonomic Notes
Achalcus cinereus (Haliday, 1851) is an accepted species within the genus Achalcus.[2] It was originally described as Rhaphium cinereum by A.H. Haliday in 1851.[2]
In taxonomic studies, A. cinereus serves as a reference point for distinguishing other members of the genus.[3] It can be differentiated from related species, such as Achalcus polleti, by the presence of a long ventral seta on the fore femur and by having ochreous yellow thoracic and abdominal setae, rather than dark ones.[3] Additionally, the apical part of the vein CuA1 in A. cinereus is approximately equal in length to the outer crossvein (m-cu).[3]
