Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Acerocnema are small flies typical of the family Scathophagidae.[1] They exhibit a generally slender body form. The head features well-developed ocellar and orbital setae, while the palpi are filiform and not spatulate.[2]

Acerocnema is a genus of dung flies within the family Scathophagidae, established by Becker in 1894.[3] The genus is represented in the Russian fauna by nine species.[2]
