Visual Description
Members of the genus Acanthonevra exhibit characteristic tephritid morphology. Observations of specimens, such as Acanthonevra trigona and Acanthonevra pteropleuralis, reveal complex wing patterning, which is typical for the family.[1] The wings often display dark, reticulated or banded markings against a lighter background.[1] The body structure is generally robust, consistent with other members of the subfamily Phytalmiinae.[2]
Distribution and Diversity
The genus Acanthonevra is recognized within the family Tephritidae.[3] Research into the tephritid fauna of North Korea has identified the presence of Acanthonevra amurensis (Portschinsky, 1892) within the region.[4] This species has been documented in several historical records from North Korea.[4]
