Based on observations of preserved specimens, Acanthodotheca masculina exhibits the characteristic body plan of the family Sarcophagidae, commonly known as flesh flies.[1] The specimens display a robust, bristly thorax and abdomen, typical of the family. The thorax features distinct longitudinal dark stripes against a lighter, greyish background. The abdomen shows a characteristic checkered or tessellated pattern, often associated with sarcophagid morphology.[1]
