Museum specimen images for Acantheurypon pilosella (GBIF/Naturalis Biodiversity Center) show a sponge specimen preserved as a compact mass with an irregular, low-profile form. The surface appears uneven to slightly crumpled, with multiple small projections/points visible across the exterior. Color in the preserved specimens is generally light tan to beige, consistent with dried or fixed museum material.
GBIF lists Acantheurypon pilosella (Topsent, 1904) as an accepted species name within the genus Acantheurypon.
