Visual Description
Acanthasargus flavipes is a species of soldier fly within the family Stratiomyidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that these flies possess a slender, elongated body typical of many members of the subfamily Sarginae.[1] The specimens exhibit a metallic or shiny coloration on the thorax and abdomen, and the legs are notably pale or yellowish, which is consistent with the specific epithet flavipes (meaning "yellow-footed").[1]
Distribution and Classification
Acanthasargus flavipes was described by G.H. Hardy in 1932 in his work "Notes on Australian Stratiomyiidae."[2] It is an accepted species within the genus Acanthasargus.[2]
