Description
Abocciputa is a genus of flies in the family Hybotidae, first described by Plant in 1989.[2] It is a monotypic genus endemic to New Zealand.[3]
Visual Description
Based on observations of Abocciputa pilosa from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the genus exhibits typical dipteran features.[1] The specimens display a slender, elongated body form characteristic of many hybotids. The thorax is robust, and the wings are well-developed with distinct venation patterns. The legs are relatively long and slender, adapted for their ecological niche.
