Ablabesmyia monilis is a species of non-biting midge within the family Chironomidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens exhibit the characteristic slender, delicate body form typical of chironomids, with long, thin legs and narrow wings.[1]
Ecology and Distribution
Ablabesmyia monilis is a member of the subfamily Tanypodinae. In studies of the Chironomidae fauna of Croatia, it has been identified as a frequent species, recorded in more than 12% of the freshwater localities surveyed.[2]
