Abbemyia nigrofasciata is a species of long-legged fly within the family Dolichopodidae. As observed in museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, these insects exhibit the characteristic slender body form typical of the family.[1] Visible morphological traits include elongated legs and a distinct wing structure. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, finer diagnostic characters such as specific setal patterns or precise coloration details are difficult to resolve from the available imagery.[1]
Abbemyia nigrofasciata was originally described by the entomologist Pierre-Justin-Marie Macquart in 1850 under the basionym Psilopus nigrofasciatus.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Abbemyia.[2]
