Visual Description
Aaptos suberitoides is a marine sponge. Observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a generally massive or globular growth form.[1] The surface texture appears somewhat smooth to slightly rugose, and specimens often exhibit a firm, dense consistency.[1]
Research and Potential Applications
The ethanol extract of Aaptos suberitoides has been studied for its potential anti-cancer properties.[2] In vitro experiments using the HER2-positive breast cancer cell line HCC-1954 have shown that the extract can inhibit cell proliferation, reduce cell viability, and suppress cell migration.[2]
