General Information
Aagaardia is a genus of chironomid midges in the family Chironomidae.[2] The genus was described by Saether in 2000.[3]
The genus is included in updated larval keys and diagnoses for the Holarctic Chironomidae, addressing a gap where a larval diagnosis was not provided in the original 1983 version of the key.[4]
Visual Description
While specific morphological traits are difficult to resolve from the available dataset images, specimens of Aagaardia (such as A. protensa) exhibit the general body form characteristic of the family Chironomidae.[1]
